A Brief History
Hunting Park Christian Academy began from a vision to see academically under-performing and spiritually anemic children in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ that would infuse their whole lives including their desire to learn and grow scholastically.

Members of Spirit and Truth Fellowship met in May of 1999, under the leadership of Dr. Manuel Ortiz, regarding the need for quality education in our neighborhood.  Out of that meeting we organized a team of people that would form a board for the school and staff and teachers for the school.  In September of 1999, the school began with 70 students.  Since then the school has more than doubled with over 200 students enrolled and over 100 potential students on the waiting list.

We are an evangelistic outreach.  All of our staff members are required to be Christian with a heart for this community.  Our students, however, are not required to be Christian.   We are reaching out to the underprivileged.  80% of our families are low-income and more than half of our students are raised in single-parent homes.
