2024 Black History Festival

In February, HPCA had a Black History Month festival! A couple of our middle-school students read a book aloud to our younger students about Garrett Morgan, who invented a hair cream, gas mask, and three-way traffic light. The younger students then made traffic light crafts to help remember the story, while also displaying the colors used during Black History Month. For the older grades, Mr. Caro shared about Ghanaian Kente cloth, describing the significance of its colors and patterns, and had them make their own patterns out of cloth or paper. Take a look below at the wonderful celebration!
